Bassi: Local Communities to Finally Receive Promised State Funds
Palatine, IL…State Representative Suzie Bassi (R-Palatine) said Governor Blagojevich’s recent decision to release $229,020 in state dollars promised to area communities over 3 years ago is long overdue. The funds are part of the Illinois First program, designed to assist in community improvements projects throughout the state.
“Governor Blagojevich froze these promised funds when he took office in 2003,” said Bassi. “These were funds our communities were counting on to move forward with vital projects that would benefit area residents. Our municipalities have been forced to wait to be reimbursed for their efforts, and I am glad to see they are finally going to receive the funds they were promised so long ago.”
According to statements from the governor’s office, project funding approved for release includes:
-
$175,000 to the Village of Palatine for the installation and design of storm sewers and earthwork related to the creation of a flood basin;
-
$25,000 to Hoffman Estates Park District for the renovation of Willow Recreation Center;
-
$25,000 to Inverness Park District for a parking lot addition and walking path at South Park; and
-
$4,020 to the Village of Palatine to convert the water system from well to municipal water and upgrade emergency and fire suppression system and exits at the Community Child Care Center.
